Micro data center vendor Zella DC has launched Zella Stack, a stackable series of self-contained data center boxes designed for deployment at the edge.

The company announced the product this week. Each box measures 1300 x 700 x 580 mm (51.18 x 27.56 x 22.83 in).

Zella DC describes the modules as rugged and "highly scalable." The system combines hybrid air and liquid cooling in a single modular unit that the firm says can be deployed "in days."

Building from a base block

Every Zella Stack configuration starts with a base block on wheels. This block contains the supporting infrastructure the system needs to operate. Users then add IT blocks above the base block to provide rack space for compute.

The boxes ship in 3U, 6U, and 12U configurations. Densities range from 3kW to 15kW, and the company says options extend cooling capacity up to 124kW.

Largest unit runs at 50dB

The flagship model, the Zella Stack 48, stacks three IT blocks on top of one base block. It weighs 185kg (408 lbs) and stands 2.48m (8.1 ft) tall. The unit operates at 50dB.

Company background

Zella DC previously operated under the name Zellabox. The company was founded in Perth, Western Australia, and sells a range of micro data center products. These are self-contained, single-rack data center pods that customers can deploy indoors or outdoors.
