OneQode has signed an agreement for 14MW of data center capacity at AdaniConneX's Siruseri Sipcot site in Chennai, the company announced this week. Talks are already underway on additional capacity in India that could reach 114MW.

The lease marks OneQode's first major AI infrastructure deployment in India. The company first announced plans to deploy in India and Thailand in July.

OneQode said the Chennai deployment will support large-scale AI training and inference, enterprise AI, and sovereign AI workloads.

What does the deal cover?

The initial commitment covers 14MW at AdaniConneX's Chennai 1 facility. AdaniConneX is a joint venture between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX, founded in February 2021. At full build-out, Chennai 1 will total 33MW, with the first 17MW phase launching in 2022.

Beyond the signed capacity, the two companies are reportedly discussing additional capacity opportunities in India, potentially reaching 114MW.

"India is becoming one of the most important markets for AI infrastructure globally," said Johnny Blackfield, chief growth officer and president, EMEA & India at OneQode. "Working with AdaniConneX gives us a strong foundation to build at scale in Chennai. We have secured our initial 14 MW deployment and are continuing discussions with AdaniConneX on additional capacity opportunities of up to 114 MW in India as demand grows. The combination of infrastructure, competitive operating costs, and room to scale makes a compelling market for our customers."

In short: a 14MW contract today, with a pathway to roughly eight times that figure.

Who is OneQode?

OneQode describes itself as a global AI infrastructure operator that designs, builds, owns, and operates compute and network infrastructure for frontier model providers, enterprise buyers, and AI-native companies.

The company operates its own global carrier network and says it has deployment capability across more than 30 data centers on five continents.

Its leasing track record includes:

  • A 15-year deal for 110MW of capacity at Bitzero's campus in Norway
  • Leases from Global Switch, Vitro, Equinix, Reliance, NextDC, and CoreSite, according to the company's website

OneQode has also announced a "multi-phase, multi-region" rollout of AMD GPUs, including plans to deploy the chipmaker's Helios rack-scale systems.

Why Chennai, why now?

The Chennai agreement follows OneQode's July announcement of planned deployments in India and Thailand. The 14MW commitment gives the company a foothold in a market where AdaniConneX already operates a phased campus, with 17MW live since 2022 and a 33MW endpoint.

For AdaniConneX, the deal adds an AI-focused tenant with stated expansion ambitions of up to 114MW nationwide — a figure that would exceed the Chennai site's full capacity nearly four times over, implying involvement of additional locations.

Blackfield cited three factors behind the market choice: available infrastructure, competitive operating costs, and room to scale.

OneQode has secured 14MW in Chennai and is negotiating for up to 114MW more across India.
