Tenstorrent has raised $1.5 billion at a $6.2 billion valuation. The Series E round more than doubles the company's previous valuation of $2.6 billion, set during its December 2024 Series D.
Trace Capital and Innovation X led the round. Participation came from ARK Invest, Cadence Ventures, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Maverick Silicon, Morgan Stanley, SanDisk, and T. Rowe Price, among others. The company disclosed no revenue figures alongside the valuation, and no per-share price.
What will the funding buy?
Tenstorrent said it will use the capital to scale manufacturing and introduce new generations of its Galaxy servers. It also plans to expand its global workforce. The statement did not specify headcount targets, factory partners, or a timeline for either goal.
The Galaxy servers began shipping in April 2025. Each unit houses 32 of the company's RISC-V Blackhole processors with Tensix AI cores. The company claims 23 petaflops of FP8 compute performance per server. FP8 is an 8-bit floating-point format used to accelerate AI training and inference. Tenstorrent published no independent benchmark results against comparable Nvidia hardware.
"We built one architecture and sell it at every size," said Jim Keller, CEO of Tenstorrent. "The future of compute is open, scalable, and owned by the people building on it. Our investors believe in that model too, and we appreciate their support."
Who is Tenstorrent?
Founded in 2016, the company builds AI accelerators for cloud and Edge (on-device, near-data-center compute) deployments. It competes directly with Nvidia's GPUs. It also develops a RISC-V CPU, an open instruction-set architecture, and licenses its designs to other organizations. Licensing revenue figures were not disclosed.
Leadership has shifted twice. In October 2022, founder Ljubisa Bajic swapped roles with Keller, then the company's CTO. Bajic left entirely in March 2023 to found Taalas, a separate AI chip startup. Keller, a veteran chip architect, has held the top job since.
Does the valuation hold up against precedent?
The prior Series D raised $693 million in December 2024. Investors included Jeff Bezos' Bezos Expeditions, Samsung Securities, and AFW Partners. That round valued the company at more than $2.6 billion. The new valuation of $6.2 billion marks a 138 percent increase in roughly a year. The company has not stated what shipment volumes or design wins justify the jump.
One acquisition question remains open. In June 2026, reports said Qualcomm was exploring a purchase of the startup. Neither company has confirmed those talks. The new $1.5 billion raise and expanded investor syndicate complicate any takeover, though none of the parties has commented on how the funding affects a potential deal.
Tenstorrent now holds capital on par with a late-stage public-market candidate. Whether its Galaxy shipments translate into sustained revenue remains the unanswered question. The company said nothing about customers, volumes, or profitability in its announcement.
