Spec summary
- Innio signed a 620MW follow-on order from an undisclosed US hyperscale data center developer.
- Combined with the 1.1GW July order, total contracted capacity reaches 1.72GW.
- The initial deal covers more than 200 Jenbacher J624 engines, each rated at 4.5MW.
- A long-term maintenance agreement covers the first 500MW, including spare parts and labor through a major overhaul.
- Innio validated 100% hydrogen-fueled gas engines for data center backup power in tests at Jenbach, Austria, and Fredericia, Denmark.

Innio has booked a 620MW follow-on order from an undisclosed US hyperscale data center developer, raising total contracted capacity with the customer to 1.72GW.
The Austrian-based German engine manufacturer announced the initial 1.1GW order in July 2025. That first deal covers more than 200 Jenbacher J624 engines supplying behind-the-meter prime power generation across US sites. Deliveries are scheduled in phases.
The new 620MW tranche will arrive as containerized Jenbacher J624 generators. Each J624 delivers 4.5MW and ranks as the largest engine in Innio's Type 6 group. The company positions the high-speed gas engine at data center operators, citing fast deployment and power density suited to demanding AI load profiles.
What did Innio's CEO say?
Dr. Olaf Berlien, President and CEO of Innio, tied the repeat order to demand strength. He said: "This follow-on order, coming just months after the customer's initial 1.1GW order, underscores the strength of customer demand and continued confidence in Innio."
Berlien added that the containerized Jenbacher systems deliver "fast deployment, high power density, fuel efficiency, and the performance to support demanding AI workloads."
He also framed the deal in financial terms: "Repeat orders of this scale, combined with long-term service agreements, strengthen our backlog and expand the services base that underpins our business model."
The order books engines; the service contract converts them into recurring revenue. That structure anchors Innio's business model.
What does the maintenance agreement cover?
Alongside the engine order, Innio signed a long-term full maintenance agreement covering the first 500MW of the previously ordered capacity.
The agreement includes:
- all spare parts and labor through a major overhaul
- support for long-term equipment availability
- guaranteed performance commitments for the installed fleet
Where does hydrogen fit in?
The 620MW order continues a year in which Innio has pushed deeper into the data center market. Earlier this year, the company completed a backup power system demonstration project for data centers running 100 percent hydrogen-fueled gas engines.
Innio ran the project with the Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers. According to both parties, the test validated that clean hydrogen gas engines can handle heavy data center demands. Testing took place at Innio's research facilities in Jenbach, Austria, and Fredericia, Denmark.
The company is hedging its gas engine business with a hydrogen-ready proof point.
Innio now holds 1.72GW of contracted Jenbacher capacity with one US hyperscale developer, plus a maintenance base covering the first 500MW of the fleet.
